Lonely people gazing out of their windows
Staring at a world they can’t touch
Wishing that they could be side by side
Cuz being so alone can hurt so much

But all the praying in the world means nothing now.
If you don’t keep yourself out of trouble
So stay in and take care the best way you know how
Don’t end up lying dead in a gutter

Don’t go chasing waterfalls
stick to the rivers and the lakes that you’re used to
I know that you wanna have it your way or nothing at all

So much time to obsess on the latest scandal
Convincing yourself that you know best
But we’re never given more than we can handle
And we’ve got to work our way together out of this mess
